What Is The Right Dog Bed
Does this sound familiar? Dog breath, how about that constant snoring or a paw to the nose. Well that's what you
get when your dog sleeps on your bed. Now it's time to get your four legged friend off your bed and into a bed of
it's own. But what is the best bed for your dog? How do you know which bed to choose?
When it's time to purchase that bed make sure you get it a little larger as a small bed will not allow your dog
to get a good rest. A good rule of thumb is to measure your dog in it's sleeping position then add about six to
nine inches this will be the measurement you use to order your bed so your dog has plenty of room.
With a bolster bed your dog will get a feeling of security and safety and be able to snuggle up against the
bolster. If your dog is like mine it likes to have its head on the arm of the couch then it will surely like the
bolster bed. With the bolster that wraps around him he'll have a feeling of protection and safety.
Another type of bed is the pillow bed and is great if your dog likes to lounge around. A dog that likes to
sprawl out all over the place like on your bed, his own bed or even the floor, then you want a round or rectangle
pillow bed. Get one that will allow all of his legs to fit comfortably on the bed.
A good choice if you have a puppy or a couple of dogs that like to sleep together would be a nest dog bed. Most
small dogs like the security of the nest type beds. Also puppies will like the comfort they get when they can
snuggle and curl up in this bed.
Does your dog travel with you? If so then you need a crate pad or mat, as most of these fit the crates that are
sold now days. They are usually machine washable and are a good choice because they are not bulky and you can roll
them up when not in use.
An orthopedic dog bed is a must if you have an aging dog or just one that needs support for joint problems. But
they are also good for the dogs that may develop health problems as they will relieve strain and pressure on their
joints. Almost all orthopedic beds have memory or medical grade foam as it provides better support and is best for
orthopedic conditions.
Those are the basics on choosing the style of pet beds and we haven’t even discussed the covers. Dog bed covers
are a matter of choice and matching home décor! Have fun with it as the days of hiding your dog bed in the corner
are over. Luxury fabrics are not just for humans anymore.
That takes you through the most often purchased beds. Although there are many more to choose from, these are
some of the basic and I feel the best for most situations. There is so many colors and materials to choose from you
can get them to fit almost any decor. Have fun and find the best bed for your four legged friend.
